An example project halfway through. The machine works through the night; a person signs off every step.

Capabilities: Website strategy, Art direction, Web development, CMS, SEO and AI search, Accessibility, AI strategy, Automation, Custom AI tools, Integrations, Site team.

AI runs every stage. People decide every one.

Six stages, from the first call to the hundredth update. Pick one to see what the machine does and what a senior person decides.

Strategy

A position you can defend, backed by what we found.

The machine does

  • › Transcribes and groups every interview
  • › Scans competitors, search demand and reviews
  • › Audits your current site, analytics and content

A person decides

  • What the business is really selling
  • Which project gets the first budget

Creative direction

Several directions to choose from, then one we commit to.

The machine does

  • › Drafts more directions than a team could sketch in a week
  • › Pulls together moodboards, type pairings and copy angles

A person decides

  • Which direction sounds like you
  • What to leave out

Design

A design system you can grow, with every page built from it.

The machine does

  • › Lays out real content in every state and screen size
  • › Drafts copy in your voice from your own material
  • › Checks contrast, hierarchy and accessibility as we go

A person decides

  • Art direction and the design system
  • The details people remember

Development

Fast, clean code your team can keep.

The machine does

  • › Writes components, tests and integrations
  • › Reviews each change for bugs and regressions

A person decides

  • Architecture and data model
  • Reading every line before it merges

Launch

A launch day that feels like any other day.

The machine does

  • › Builds a live preview of every change
  • › Runs accessibility, speed, SEO and link checks on each one

A person decides

  • The launch plan and the sign-off
  • Redirects, rollbacks and timing

Upkeep

A site that keeps improving after it ships.

The machine does

  • › Monitors uptime, speed, search and errors
  • › Keeps dependencies and security up to date
  • › Checks AI and automation output every month

A person decides

  • Which experiments to run next
  • What to keep, change or remove

Three products, made by the same people.

Almost no problem is only one of these, so they're built to combine. Each has a fixed scope, a published price and a clear end date.

Websites

People have always told machines what to do.

Edison suggested “hello” as the way to answer the telephone. For two hundred years the arrangement hasn't changed: the machine does the work, and a person decides what the work is for. Our name is that greeting.

    1. The punched-card chain of a Jacquard loom hanging beside its threads.

      1804

      Punched cards

Jacquard's loom weaves whatever pattern a chain of punched cards describes. They're instructions for a machine, written a century before computers.

    2. Portrait of Ada Lovelace in an evening dress.

      1843

      The first program

Ada Lovelace publishes an algorithm for Babbage's Analytical Engine. She also notes that it can only do what we know how to tell it to do.

    3. A long telephone switchboard with a row of operators seated at it.

      1877

      Hello

Edison suggests “hello” as the word for answering the telephone. It's a greeting made for talking through a machine.

    4. Two programmers setting switches and cables on the ENIAC computer.

      1946

      The operators

Six women program ENIAC by hand, patching cables and setting switches. The machine is fast. They decide what it computes.

    5. Now

      Hello, machine

Language models write, design, test and keep watch. A person still decides what they're for, and that's how we run every project.

Six situations people call us into.

We don't publish client names or invent results. Instead, here are the problems we're usually brought in for, what the machine takes off your plate, and what stays with a person.

01A clearer front doorThe business is good. The website makes it sound complicated.

We rebuild the site around the two or three decisions a visitor is trying to make. Structure, language and pace come first and the interface second, so the detail is still there, just no longer the first thing anyone meets.

    The machine takes
Audits every page, maps search demand and lays out real content in every size
    A person keeps
Decides what the business is actually selling, and how it should sound

Positioning · Website design · Web development

02A workflow that answers itselfEverything is written down somewhere. Nobody can find it twice.

Scattered docs, threads and recordings become one place your team can question in plain English. Every answer shows where it came from, and when it doesn't know, it says so.

    The machine takes
Reads, indexes and answers from everything your team has written down
    A person keeps
Sets what it may answer, checks the sources and owns the hard cases

AI systems · Knowledge design · Retrieval

03The quiet operatorFour people spend their mornings moving the same data sideways.

We map what really happens, not the documented version, then hand the repetitive middle to software. Your team stops being the integration layer between four tools.

    The machine takes
Takes the intake, routing, copying and follow-ups that repeat every day
    A person keeps
Gets the exceptions, raised clearly instead of buried in a queue

Process mapping · Automation · Integration

04An instrument, not a spreadsheetThe company runs on a file only one person fully understands.

We build the narrow tool your team actually needs, in its own words and stages, so whoever opens it can see what happens next. It gets the same care as anything a customer sees.

    The machine takes
Keeps the numbers current, checks the inputs and flags what looks wrong
    A person keeps
Stops being the only one who knows how it works

Product design · Custom tools · Web development

05A relationship that remembersClients feel served during the project and forgotten after it.

Onboarding, updates, access and renewals designed as one experience, so the system carries the relationship and nobody has to remember to send the email.

    The machine takes
Sends the welcome, the update, the reminder and the renewal on time
    A person keeps
Has the conversations that keep a client for years

Service design · Portals · Lifecycle systems

06A room for hard decisionsThe choice is expensive and the evidence lives in six places.

A tool for one decision you make again and again. Assumptions are written down, uncertain numbers show as ranges, and there's a record of what was decided and why.

    The machine takes
Gathers the evidence from six places and runs the scenarios
    A person keeps
Makes the call, and can explain it to the board afterwards

    Ask Hello Machine

    answers in plain English

How can a design studio publish its prices?

Because most of our production is predictable. AI handles the repetitive work, like research summaries, layout variations, code and testing. What's left is the thinking, and we scope that before we start. So we can publish where each package starts, and once we've scoped yours, the quote is fixed.

What does “AI-native” mean for my project?

AI does the production work at every stage, from strategy to upkeep, and a senior person decides what ships. You'll see more design directions, faster turnarounds and automated checks on every change. You'll never get machine output that nobody has reviewed.

    Will AI write our content?

AI drafts it and a person rewrites it. We start from your interviews, your documents and the way you talk. If you'd rather write it yourselves, we'll structure it and edit it.

    What if the scope changes?

We tell you as soon as we see it, price the change before doing anything, and you decide. Small things that fit the package are on us.

    Say hello.

The best first message is the messy one: the process nobody wants to own, the site that undersells you, the idea you haven't been able to scope. A person replies within one working day, usually the one who'd run your project.
